The realization of thousands of agricultural fairs in Brazil, which combine entertainment and animal exhibition, depends on an indispensable professional figure: the veterinarian, who assumes the role of Technical Responsible (RT). The presence of this professional is required by law to assess and guarantee the sanitary issues of the events, being the pillar for traceability and the protection of the herd. In an interview with Giro do Boi, Dr. José Carlos Pontello, secretary-general of the Regional Council of Veterinary Medicine of Minas Gerais (CRMV-MG), explained that due to the country's size and the limitation of the Ministry of Agriculture's inspection, the private sector has been accredited to act. According to him, the RT veterinarian, after undergoing training, is the one who receives the animals at the event locations, inspecting the health and the Animal Transit Guide (GTA).
