The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) confirmed through laboratory research the presence of anthrax in a livestock farm for raising sheep and cattle in the village of Slavyanovo, Harmanli Municipality, Haskovo region. Following the initial suspicion, Agency employees vaccinated all susceptible animals in the farm and a related livestock farm. After the results were released, the vaccination was expanded to cover all livestock farms in the settlement, aiming to limit the potential spread of the disease. The immunization campaign is expected to be completed within one week. Disinfection was carried out at the farm, and a ban on the movement of animals to and from the site was imposed. Currently, there are no new cases of sick or dead animals. There is no data on affected people. The Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) has been notified.
