Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil is expected to have a higher apple production in 2021 than the previous year, around 550 thousand tons, due to favorable climatic conditions. Darci Menegotto, a farmer from São Luiz da Sexta Légua, expects a 210-ton harvest with better quality this year, compared to 60 tons in 2020. The municipality of Caxias do Sul, a major apple producer, predicts a harvest of 96 thousand tons, an increase from 70 thousand tons in 2020. Vacaria, the largest apple producer in the state, has already harvested over 200 thousand tons and expects to harvest between 240 and 260 thousand tons. The international market absorbs about 30% of Rasip's production in Vacaria.
