Corn grain yields in 2025 show a worrying decline, as expected given the summer. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MAF), total production amounts to 752,431 tons, which is about 39.2% less compared to the previous year (1,237,756 tons). The average yield is 224 kg/ha, or 18.2% lower than the year before. The areas sown with corn for grain were 408,061 ha, and harvested — 335,679 ha. What do the farmers say? A survey by Agri.bg among over 400 readers of the site confirms the dire picture: Up to 200 kg/ha — 52% Over 200 to 300 — 19% Over 300 to 400 — 10% Over 400 to 500 — 3% Over 500 to 600 — 3% Over 600 kg/ha — 9% More than half of the producers reported a yield below 200 kg/ha — a level that calls into question the economic sustainability of production.
