After the World Animal Health Organization (WOAH) recognized the closure of the highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) case recorded on a commercial farm in Montenegro, Rio Grande do Sul, 17 importing countries have resumed purchasing Brazilian chicken, the Ministry of Agriculture reported in a statement. According to the ministry, Algeria, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, El Salvador, Iraq, Japan, Lesotho, Libya, Morocco, Myanmar, Montenegro, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Sri Lanka, Vanuatu, and Vietnam have informed the Brazilian government of the end of restrictions on national chicken. In total, chicken meat exports from the entire Brazilian territory remain suspended for 15 destinations.
