Avocado farmers in the northern region of Paraná, Brazil, including the cities of Nova América da Colina, Assaí and São Sebastião da Amoreira, are profiting from exporting their produce, mainly to Europe. The region is set to harvest approximately 80 tons of avocados this season, with the hass variety fetching prices 50% to 100% higher than tropical avocados. The farmers are guided by extensionists from the Institute of Rural Development of Paraná (IDR-Paraná) to meet international market demands and quality standards.
