Brazil: Avocado from Paraná wins Europe and guarantees income to producers

Producing avocados for export has been yielding good profits for producers in the northern region of Paraná. Currently, eleven producers in the cities of Nova América da Colina, Assaí and São Sebastião da Amoreira are dedicated to planting avocado, also known as hass avocado. Producers are monitored by extensionists from the Institute of Rural Development of Paraná (IDR-Paraná) at all stages of production so that they meet the demands of the international market and win over more consumers. The fruit has a thick, dark green skin and weighs between 200 and 350 grams. Smaller than the tropical avocado, the avocado has a certain market abroad. The harvest in Paraná begins at the end of this month and all production is destined for European consumers, repeating a trade that began in 2020 and expands year after year.
