A recent sector meeting in Aydın, Turkey, highlighted the challenges faced by the country's leading dried fig industry, a product renowned as the national fruit of Aydın. The meeting underscored the impact of climate crisis and extreme heat in the Mediterranean Region on fig production. Issues regarding agricultural insurance and the need for solutions were discussed. The Aydın Commodity Exchange (ATB) emphasized efforts to enhance the added value of products and create new markets, mentioning the operation of an A-Type Warehouse for preserving exported agricultural products and plans for a cold storage facility to reduce logistics costs. The meeting also acknowledged Aydın's leading position in fig production with 38,000 hectares and a production of 204,000 tons, and the industry's significance with 159 businesses and 161 warehouses specializing in dried figs.
