A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is set to be signed between Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation and National Group Russia for Potato Export for the export of potatoes from Bangladesh to Russia. This comes after a temporary ban by Russia on Bangladeshi potato imports in 2015 due to the presence of bacteria Ralstonia. In 2015, Bangladesh exported 20,000 tonnes of potatoes to Russia, but exports fell to 40,000 tonnes in the fiscal year 2015-16 due to the ban. Despite the ban, Bangladesh managed to export 64,773 tonnes of potatoes in the fiscal year 2020-21 and 80,437 tonnes in 2021-22. The Agriculture Minister, Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, will be present at the signing of the MoU.
