Bangladesh's soybean imports are projected to rise to 2.5 million tonnes in MY 2025/26, an increase of 100 thousand tonnes from the previous year, due to economic recovery, stable demand for soybean meal in the poultry and fish farming industry, and consumption of soybean oil. Local production will remain at 155 thousand tonnes due to limited acreage. The country's crude oil imports are expected to reach 2.8 million tons in 2025/26, driven by urbanization, changing consumer habits, and the development of the processing industry. The country's reliance on imported soybean meal is expected to increase, with palm oil remaining the main type of imported oil.
