The trade war between the United States and China has boosted Brazilian soybeans in the Asian country. From June to August, the Asian country suspended the purchase of the American grain, giving preference to other suppliers, such as Brazil and Argentina. This conclusion is from a survey by the American Farm Bureau Federation (American Federation of Agricultural Offices, in English). The largest representative entity of the agricultural sector in the country, the federation encompasses 6 million American rural producers. According to the survey, published on the entity's page, Chinese imports of American soybeans fell to the lowest historical level in 2025. In contrast, Brazil became the main supplier of the grain to the Asian giant. Between January and August 2025, China imported only 5.8 million tons of American soybeans, against 26.5 million in the same period last year, a drop of almost 80%.
