The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently issued health certification for the import of Brazilian live cattle and buffaloes for halal meat and milk production, opening up the market for larger quantities from Brazil. This certification represents the health standards that must be met for all shipments of cattle and buffalo from Brazil to the UAE. The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply (MAPA) in Brazil believes that supplying the UAE, a demanding market known for its quality requirements, logistical and financial resources, is beneficial for Brazilian agribusiness. Brazil exports between 500 and 600 live cattle and has a herd of over 200 million head, while the country also has a buffalo population of 1.7 million, primarily raised for meat production.
