Although the industry had anticipated that watermelons and cantaloupes would be exported through the Mu Jie border crossing this production season, currently only the Daluo-Mengla route is operational. Traders noted that while this route is feasible, it has issues with long transportation times and higher costs. Especially during the current rainy season, some watermelons of lower quality are damaged due to the inability to withstand long-distance transport, affecting overall export efficiency.
Although the export volume has not yet recovered to its peak, the market situation for watermelons and cantaloupes in China is performing well, with current wholesale prices maintaining between 5 to 6 Chinese Yuan per kilogram, indicating strong market demand.
