Eleven months into 2025, Cambodia exported 802,000 tons of milled rice to the international market, a 39% increase from the 576,000 tons exported in the same period last year. Export revenue was approximately $526 million, a 27% increase from the $414 million in the same period last year. The Cambodia Rice Federation attributed this achievement to the government's focus on providing emergency funds to rice mills and exporters to promote rice exports, enabling them to secure funds to purchase rice during the harvest season. Currently, global market competition is very intense, especially in the low-priced white rice market, as many countries have increased production this year, including China, India, and countries that previously imported large quantities of rice, such as Indonesia and the Philippines. To further strengthen the industry, the government encourages relevant ministries and private enterprises to enhance cooperation and increase direct exports to the international market. The government has increased support for the rice industry through fiscal support, infrastructure construction, and policies aimed at reducing farmers' production costs to promote the development of the rice industry. Approximately 1.7 million farming households in Cambodia cultivate rice on over 3.1 million hectares of land. It is estimated that by 2025, the total production of rice during the rainy and dry seasons will exceed 14 million tons of rice. Meanwhile, Cambodia is expected to earn $1.408 billion from rice exports during the aforementioned period. Cambodian rice is mainly exported to Europe, China, ASEAN countries, Africa, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Most of the rice is exported to Vietnam.
