The Canadian government is investing up to CA$1.6 million (€1.08 million) in the Canadian Angus Association (CAA) to improve genetic evaluation tools for the Angus cattle herd. The funding will be used for the development of genetic selection tools to increase producers' return on investment and predict traits beneficial for the environment and consumer preferences. The CAA plans to use the funding to implement technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning to collect and manage large data volumes. The data will provide valuable knowledge on genetic selection for beef and dairy producers, supporting the development of new breeding tools. The CAA will partner with Holstein Canada to carry out this project.
