Two new swine quarantine units in Cananéia, Brazil, have been completed, doubling the reception capacity for pigs arriving in the country. The Cananéia Quarantine Station (EQC) can now receive 22 lots of pigs per year, up from 11, thanks to a public-private partnership that involved investments of R$ 10 million. The EQC is linked to various departments involved in preventing and combating animal diseases that could threaten the national livestock heritage. The station receives pigs from countries such as the United States, Canada, Denmark, France, and Norway, ensuring they are disease-free before they are distributed throughout Brazil.
