The Canary Islands experienced a rise in potato prices during the ban on imports from the UK, with some supermarkets selling locally grown potatoes for up to €5 per kilo. However, since the ban has been lifted, prices have dropped to around €1.60 per kilo, a decrease of almost 40% compared to the average price during the restrictions and a significant 68% drop from their peak. The lifting of the ban followed extensive discussions between the Spanish and British agricultural ministries.
