Centro-Sul accelerates grinding and projects record in sugar

Sugarcane milling in Brazil's Center-South region accelerated in September, reducing part of the delay recorded at the beginning of the season. According to a survey by FG/A Finanças, based on data from the Sugarcane Industry Union (UNICA), around 490 million tons were processed by the second half of the month, a result 3% lower than the previous season's in the same period, but with improved productivity in the crops. Despite the slight reduction in the volume of available sugarcane, sugar production remained stable, driven by the prioritization of the product in the mills. The sugar mix reached 52.7% in the accumulated amount until September, the highest index ever recorded.
