Chile has seen a significant increase in cherry exports to China, with the country quadrupling its cherry cultivation area in the past decade to meet demand. This has made China the world's first recipient of Chilean food products, surpassing the United States with exports valued at US$2,567 million as of May 2024, a 16.6% increase from the previous year. China now accounts for 25.7% of Chile's total food export products, followed by Japan, Brazil, and Mexico. Chilean cherry exporters anticipate a further doubling of the cultivation area in the next five years.
