Georgian farmers have started harvesting sweet cherries with the season seeing higher than expected prices due to harsh weather conditions impacting quality and yields. Wholesale prices range from 12 to 17 lari ($4.08–5.8) per kilogram, with the average price for large fruits being 15 lari ($5.1). The 2021 season saw prolonged high prices, and this trend is expected to continue into the 2022 season. In 2020, Georgia achieved its highest cherry export in three years, with the main market being Russia, but some exporters are planning to increase exports to the United Arab Emirates.
