China's soybean imports are being restrained by the significant drop in pork prices over the past six months, leading to decreased consumption of soybean meal. The Chinese government is contemplating reducing pork production to prop up prices. Despite these challenges, China is set to produce over 15 million tons of soybeans, a 2.5 million ton decrease from the previous year. However, imports are expected to surpass 100 million tons, an increase of 2 million tons from last year. Ukraine has emerged as a key supplier of soybeans for China, with non-GMO beans making up 1.5-2 million tons of imports, primarily from Russia, Ukraine, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Canada. Soybean prices in China are anticipated to remain high due to logistical constraints.
