In 2021, China's wine imports experienced a decline with an 11% decrease in euros and an 8% decrease in local currency, amounting to 1.43 billion euros. This decline was predominantly observed in Australia, which saw its exports to China drop from 625 million euros to 47 million euros. However, other wine-exporting countries like France, Chile, and Italy reported growth in their exports to China, with France taking the top spot as the largest supplier. Furthermore, the Chinese market for sparkling wine experienced significant growth, with imports surging by 52% to 96 million euros, mainly driven by French sparkling wines.
