The Valencian Community's citrus fruit production is projected to decrease by 7.3% in the current season, with a total production of 2,676,344 tonnes. This is due to high temperatures, lack of rainfall, and pest issues, which have led to a significant reduction in the mandarin harvest. The area under cultivation has been reduced in 2024 due to these challenges. The production estimates for sweet oranges, mandarins, and lemons are all expected to decrease, with only a slight increase in grapefruit production. The reduction in the mandarin harvest, particularly in the Clementines variety, is the main contributor to the overall decrease in citrus production.
