Russia has seen a 10% increase in the harvest of ivasi, reaching 139.3 thousand tons in 2022, as reported by the Federal Agency for Fishery. The country's imports of Atlantic herring have significantly dropped from 56 thousand tons in 2021 to 9.7 thousand tons in the first nine months of this year. However, the domestic market has been supported by Russian herring, with a capacity of 370-390 thousand tons per year and 75% of which is Russian fish. The country also has a surplus of Pacific herring, with a production of 322.3 thousand tons, which is 24% more than in 2021, and is enough to fully satisfy the market.
