Between 22-28 July 2024, Poland experienced an increase in the sales prices of dairy products, as reported by the Integrated Agricultural Market Information System of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Butter saw a 5% increase to PLN 27.03/kg for blocks and a 0.6% increase to PLN 30.16/kg for packaged, with year-on-year increases of 38% and 46% respectively. Skimmed milk powder (SMP) increased by 3.1% to PLN 10.34/kg, but decreased by 2% from the previous month. Whole milk powder (PMP) increased by 2.3% to PLN 16.48/kg, and both SMP and PMP were 4% more expensive than the previous year.
Gouda cheese prices increased by 3.2% to PLN 19.79/kg, but decreased by 4% from the previous month, while Edam cheese prices decreased by 1.2% to PLN 18.04/kg, and by 5% from the previous month on the Chicago Stock Exchange. The price of butter was USD 6,812/t, an increase of 0.5% from the previous week but a decrease of 1% from the previous month, and was 15% more expensive than the previous year. The price of SMP was USD 2,602/t, an increase of 1% from the previous week but a decrease of 1% from the previous month, and was 6% more expensive than the previous year. The price of whole milk powder was USD 5,005/t, the same as the previous week and month, but was 24% more expensive than the previous year. The price of Cheddar cheese increased by 3.5% to USD 4,255/t, and was 1% higher than both the previous month and year.
