The demand for red meat is on the rise due to food companies stockpiling beef for the New Year holidays and a disease outbreak in EU cattle herds limiting the supply. Despite a decrease in beef supplies, demand remains high in the USA, and Australia and New Zealand are competing for market shares. Ukraine has increased its exports of live weight cattle and frozen beef, while reducing imports of chilled and frozen beef. The balance of foreign trade in cattle and beef in October was positive, showing a surplus of 11.97 million dollars.
