In Q1 of 2024, Russia experienced a significant surge in the sales of frozen crab and snails, with increases of 414.29% and 40% respectively compared to the same period in 2023. Despite holding a minimal share of the total fish and seafood sales, this surge indicates a growing consumer interest in these products. The availability of crab meat products from Kamchatka and Murmansk has improved, with more varieties now available in local stores. This increase in consumer interest is attributed to factors such as the trend towards dietary diversity, increased production, and a revival in demand. Direct contracts between crab harvesters and retail networks have also played a role in making these products more widely available.
