The Department of Livestock Development in Thailand has announced a suspension on the importation or transit of cattle and buffaloes, including carcasses, from the Republic of the Union of Myanmar due to an outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) reported by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). The suspension will be in effect for 90 days starting from March 1, 2023, in an effort to prevent the spread of the disease. This measure is taken under the Animal Epidemic Act B.E. 2558 to protect domestic cattle and buffalo farming.
