China's domestic blueberry exports have seen significant growth, reaching 1,012 tons in 2023 and 2,314 tons in the first eight months of 2024, with the market expanding to nine countries and a value of $21.98 million. As the world's largest blueberry producer in 2022, China is looking to increase its export potential by developing leading varieties with independent intellectual property rights, extending the fruit's shelf life, and capitalizing on the benefits of initiatives like the 'Belt and Road Initiative' and RCEP to expand in the Southeast Asian market. Despite the challenge of depending on foreign varieties, China is investing in blueberry breeding and seeking to enhance its global competitiveness.
