The National Agrifood Health, Safety and Quality Service (Senasica) in Mexico has identified potential export market opportunities for poultry meat and eggs due to the impact of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). Countries such as Cuba, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, and Japan have expressed interest in establishing regionalization mechanisms for trade with Mexico, recognizing HPAI-free zones. Fernando Rivera Espinoza, director of imports and exports at Senasica, highlighted the importance of vaccination and the potential for it to open up more export markets. The ANETIF Foundation is encouraging poultry meat producers to explore export opportunities, citing the success of pork and beef exports as an example. However, concerns have been raised about inflation and issues of speculation and smuggling in the egg market. The United States Poultry Meat and Egg Exporters Council (USAPEEC) is working with ANETIF to promote exports of value-added poultry products.
