Ecuador has successfully opened its dairy market to Chile, allowing for the export of products from cattle, sheep, and goats for human consumption. This development, announced by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) and the Agency for the Regulation and Control of Plant and Animal Health (Agrocalidad), follows negotiations on plant and animal health requirements with Chile's Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG). Interested Ecuadorian companies will now be able to export dairy products, supporting the country's dairy industry, which in 2023 produced 5.7 million liters of milk per day, with over half from the formal sector. This expansion is part of the government's strategy to increase the export of national products to benefit local producers, with dairy products already finding homes in several countries, including the recent approval to export live cattle to the United Arab Emirates.
