In 2022/23, Egypt set a record as the third largest supplier of carrots to the EU, sending 12,000 tonnes from July 2022 to June 2023, a significant increase from previous years. The growth was due to problems with European carrot harvests, leading to an overall increase in imports from third countries, with Poland being the fourth largest importer. The EU also imported significant amounts of carrots from Turkey, Israel, Belarus, Russia, and several other countries, as well as experiencing an increase in imports from Central Asian countries.
