The Lapache Cattle Business Centre (CBC) in Mwenezi, Zimbabwe, is providing relief to local cattle farmers through a European Union-funded project. The project, part of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Growth Programme-Beef Enterprises Strengthening and Transformation (ZAGP-BEST) initiative, has improved the condition of cattle and increased their value through a cattle fattening scheme. The CBC is owned and managed by SABI Meats, with support from a seven-member farmers’ representative committee and government line ministries. It offers services such as high nutrient stock feed, bulling services, and livestock inputs. The project has also created employment opportunities and is being implemented in several other districts. Masvingo Provincial Affairs Minister Ezra Chadzamira has urged the community to sustain the project beyond the project's funding years.
