The reduction in export duties announced by Javier Milei at the Rural Exhibition, but above all the improvement in the value of the dollar in recent weeks, restored competitiveness to beef exports.
For several months, the "beef dollar," which is derived by subtracting the withholdings (which were at 6.75% and were reduced to 5%) from the wholesale value of the US dollar, was at the bottom of the band and even at one point was below 1,000 pesos.
In recent weeks, the situation has changed noticeably. The beef dollar is now around 1,250 pesos, and thus its value has improved by at least 20%, which means a significant improvement in the exchange rate conditions for the export of beef.
