Peru has experienced a decline in its banana exports, with a 17% decrease in volume and a 10% decrease in value from January to October 2023 compared to the previous year. The Netherlands, the main destination market, has had weak demand during this period. The reduction in Peruvian exports can also be attributed to Ecuador increasing its sales to the United States, as it has benefited from lower maritime freight costs and aims to expand its export volume to other countries.
