Spanish table olive exports saw a growth of 3.41% in 2021, reaching 313.9 million kilos. The European Union, especially Italy, France, Portugal, Germany, and Poland, was the primary destination, accounting for over 42% of the total exports. However, exports to North America, led by the US, experienced a 9.7% decrease due to tariffs on black olives. The Arab Countries also saw a decline, while Eastern and Balkan Countries, including Russia and Ukraine, reported a growth. The European Union remains the primary market for Spanish olives. Domestically, the market grew by 1%, with home consumption and the Horeca channel contributing 137 million kilos and 39 million kilos, respectively. The sector faces challenges such as tariffs in the US and issues related to the Food Chain Law.
