In the first half of 2021, Ukrainian exports to China surged by 44% to over $1 billion, largely driven by a significant increase in agricultural product exports. China is now the leading importer of Ukrainian corn, sunflower meal, barley, beef, and whey. The exports of corn and sunflower oil brought in $2.37 billion in 2020, marking a 30% increase from five years prior. The State Consumer Service is actively working to expand exports to China, including poultry, flour, fish and fish products, eggs and egg products, wheat, canola, sorghum, soybean meal, apples, blueberries, peas, beans, cherries, pet food, feed for animals, poultry, malt, and honey. Currently, a large number of Ukrainian producers have been accredited to export these products to China.
