Mexico's Ministry of Agriculture has declared an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) AH5N1 in three poultry production units in Yucatán to be contained, after implementing measures such as quarantines, depopulation, and regular monitoring of nearby farms. The outbreak, which affected 312,756 birds, did not impact chicken supply. The ministry has also implemented measures to prevent the spread of the virus, including testing products from affected units for the virus and imposing internal quarantines. The WHO has rated the risk of this virus for human population as low.
