Farmers of San Lorenzo set a minimum price for mangoes

(Agraria.pe) Mango producers from the San Lorenzo Valley (Piura) agreed to establish a minimum price for their fruit, after several weeks in which the value of the fruit fell sharply, according to the local Piura media, Walac. The decision was made last Saturday during an assembly at the Farmer's House, which brought together around 800 producers. They all first heard the analysis of a technical commission on the current market situation. According to Carlos Ruesta, a member of the negotiating team and a producer from Malingas, the value of the mango "collapsed in a matter of weeks." This led the group to seek a joint solution to prevent the instability from continuing to affect the families dedicated to cultivation.
