Antalya, known for its fertile soil and diverse agricultural production, is responsible for providing a significant portion of Turkey's cuisine both domestically and internationally. The city, which uses 30% of Turkey's greenhouse agricultural areas, produces over 200 products across 360 thousand hectares of land, including tropical fruits not typically found in the region. In 2013, a project was initiated to cultivate tropical fruits, with notable success in Gazipaşa and Alanya. The region's agriculture contributes greatly to the country's economy, with a production volume of 8.4 million tons and a value added that accounts for 6% of Turkey's GNP. Additionally, Antalya has the potential to increase its fresh vegetable and fruit exports, having exported around 700 thousand tons and earning 600 million dollars in income last year.
