The grace period has expired, and those who have not yet legalized their irregularly, unregistered drilled wells can now expect inspections and even penalties. To protect against the negative effects of increasingly frequent and prolonged drought periods, it will be crucial for those farming on arable land, plantations, or even in home gardens in Hungary to have irrigation options. In recent years, the number of drilled wells has increased at home, but in such an unsystematic manner that there was soon a need to regulate their installation. A new law indicates that the grace period has expired, and the inspection of drilled wells will soon begin. The regulation to protect the domestic water supply and ensure the more transparent operation of drilled wells came into force on January 1, 2024, and now the second phase is starting: everyone will be inspected, and unregistered drilled wells cannot be operated.
