The Korea Maritime Institute Fisheries Observation Center has reported a significant decrease in the sales of flatfish and rockfish fry in April this year, with a 8.8% and 29.4% decrease compared to the same month last year, respectively. The cumulative fry sales from January to April also saw a decrease of 26.4% compared to last year. This decrease is due to fishermen reducing stocking and switching to river bridge farming, as well as frequent deaths and low prices in rockfish farms. Additionally, flounder farms are switching to farming a species that is easier to raise and more profitable.
