Fishermen engaged in coastal trawling in Gangwon Province are calling for the exemption of "income tax" on reduction support funds and demanding a revision of the Tax Exemption and Special Allowance Act. The Gangwon Coastal Trawling Complex Federation (President Yoon Guk-jin) held a meeting with Representative Lee Yang-soo (People Power Party, Sokcho City, Inje County, Goseong County, Yangyang County, Gangwon Province) on November 22, strongly requesting the withdrawal of taxation and legislative supplementation for fishing boat reduction support funds. Fishermen who attended the meeting argued, "Fishing boat reduction was a participation in restructuring according to government policy, and the support funds are compensation for livelihood recovery," and "Taxing this as 'other income' undermines administrative trust."
