In 2024, Russia exported nearly $300 million worth of wheat and wheat-rye flour, an increase of 3% in value and 7% in volume from the previous year. Afghanistan was the largest buyer, purchasing $80 million worth of flour, followed by China and Turkmenistan. By 2030, Russia's wheat and wheat-rye flour exports are projected to exceed $440 million. The depreciation of the ruble, limited supply from other suppliers, and expansion of delivery locations have contributed to this growth. Companies like Makfa and Progress Agro Group of Companies have also seen increased exports, with Makfa increasing flour shipments abroad by 52% and Progress Agro making a breakthrough into the Chinese market.
