The table grape contact group from France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain has met in Avignon to discuss the forecasts for the upcoming grape campaign and address the issue of declining phytosanitary products. They agreed to launch a joint study on the essential active materials used in each country and to support the proposal for regional authorization of these products, instead of by member state. The campaign is expected to see good quality production, with Spain projected to produce 300,000 tons, Portugal and Italy 230,000 tons and 170,000 tons respectively, and France starting in August. This group was established in response to the increase in Apirena grape production and European demand.
