Wando County in Jeonnam Province is making all-out efforts to secure approval for the "2028 Wando International Seaweed Industry Expo," an international event. As the largest seaweed production area in the country, Wando County successfully hosted the Seaweed Expo in 2014 and 2017. Notably, the 2017 expo attracted about 1 million visitors, drew in seaweed-related overseas companies and buyers, and generated an economic impact of 300 billion won, thereby proving the potential of the seaweed industry both domestically and internationally. The 2028 Wando International Seaweed Industry Expo aims to enhance the future value of seaweed, promoting the industrialization and globalization of the seaweed industry, and will be held as a large-scale industrial expo.
