A case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza has been detected in seabirds in Espírito Santo, Brazil, raising concerns about the need to reinforce biosecurity in producing regions, particularly in Rio Grande do Sul. This detection comes after the end of the main migration period of birds from the northern hemisphere, with concerns about migration from the extreme south. The Animal Sanitary Development and Defense Fund of Rio Grande do Sul is collaborating with the Official Veterinary Service to spread prevention guidelines and biosecurity measures to the productive sector. Rio Grande do Sul is the third largest producer and exporter of chicken meat in Brazil.
