The global garlic market is experiencing challenges due to increased cultivation and storage costs, and supply issues in both Europe and China. The hot and dry weather in south-western Europe has reduced the supply of larger calibers of garlic and increased its quality. However, the costs of storing the crop in refrigerators have risen due to high energy costs. In China, garlic exports in August hit a low since 2016, but it is expected that demand will increase in November. Despite these challenges, the overall quality of the garlic is better this season due to good weather during harvest.
