Organic milk deliveries in GB have seen a significant decrease, with a 9.3% drop compared to the previous year and a 23.1% decrease compared to the year before that. This decline is due to high input costs and decreased consumer demand following the cost-of-living crisis. However, there has been a slight rebound in total GB milk production in September and October, driven by increased milk prices and favorable weather. Despite a slight increase in the volume of cow’s milk, organic yoghurt, butter, spreads, and margarines sold, the volume of total cow’s milk declined, indicating that organic demand exceeded the market. The cost of organic milk also decreased by 0.7% to £1.09 per litre, while conventional milk decreased by 0.3% to £0.80 per litre. The economic situation and global trade potential are key factors in the future of organic sales, and promoting the benefits of organic could help boost demand.
