Germany is a major producer of kohlrabi, with approximately 1,800 hectares dedicated to the crop, accounting for about 60% of Europe's total cultivation area. The majority of this production is located in North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Lower Saxony. In 2020, the vegetable saw an increase in consumption in Germany, with 53.1% of the population purchasing kohlrabi, marking a 2% rise from the previous year. Households bought 49,000 tonnes of the vegetable for their own use, with a significant portion of these purchases made at discounted prices.
