Germany has successfully overcome the sunflower oil shortage caused by the Ukraine conflict, according to the Association of German Oilseed Producers (Ovid). The export of sunflower seeds, rapeseed, and sunflower oil from Ukraine is nearing pre-war levels and being imported to Germany, allowing for the reestablishment of logistics and commodity chains. Some food manufacturers have adapted by using multi-vegetable oil blends or modifying recipes to use rapeseed instead of sunflower seeds, mitigating the impact of the conflict and high energy prices. However, Ovid expresses concerns over rising production costs, potentially leading to a shift of the industry from Germany to other countries.
